Quandog, I live in Soda Springs at an elevation of 6000 ft. Nice to see that there is another Idahoan on this forum.

@MountainRider - I have a cabin near Lava - about 30 mins from Soda. I gotta get up there and winterize the place before big snow gets in.... In fact, here's a shot from last winter up there that fits this theme nicely. I'm not thrilled with the exposure of this shot, but it was practically dark, I guess you can only push the limits of the camera so far. That's a friend of mine who had never ridden a sled.... After this trip he moved to Florida. I think I scared him too much. Pretty sure he needed new pants after this jump.

Cool! ..... I know lava well, my mother grew up in the farm house next to the old bridge between McCammon & Lava, Grandparents retired there after they sold the farm, & the wife & I go soak in the hot pots a lot during the winter.

Yes you had better get down here and get your cabin winterized ~ it's been "cold" round these parts ~ in fact is supposted to get down to 13 deg tonight. Hopefully the pipes in your cabin haven't frozen yet.

Is this shot close to Baldy?.....I haven't been up there since last year, but I can tell ya that the snow has stuck up there....as well as Mt Sherman & Soda Peak.

That shot was taken right about here:
    42.5279, -112.0347 - Google Maps

My cabin is in the Lava Ranches, not sure which mountain it is on.

Luckily, the cabin has central heat that keeps it 50 degrees inside - but we turn it off and drain the pipes in the winter to avoid a HUGE electric bill.

Looks like I've got a road trip coming up this weekend.

Looks like ... a storm? a forest fire? not this time, just a brief sunset over the mountains.

    Selective Fog

Somewhat ominous that on Halloween morning the local playground is enshrouded in pretty thick fog.....
