OK this theme was prompted by something EricD said about how repetitive macros can become when all they show are bugs and flowers, hey I class flower photography as one of my favourite subjects but it gives us the easy option when sticking a macro lens on to point it at the nearest flower. So this theme has only one rule MACROS BUT NO FLOWERS OR BUGS. Apologies to those without macro lenses but I am sure some creative use of a zoom and cropping can achieve a result.

Remember even the simplest things can be amazing in macro - surprise us!!!!!

This will run for 2 weeks or until my eye recovers from the operation, mind you if thats a success I get the left one done straight after

This won't be easy without any creepy crawlies but let's see what small wonders are out there......

My wife uses a traditional 70-200mm f/4 telephoto zoom for her macros. But it's on an 18mp Canon 7D so there's room to crop. I'm sure I have a ton of mushrooms here some where. Are foods and edible fungus out of bounds ?

We went to an exhibition of all things Hollywood today and this candelabra was there as part of the deco. I took as good a shot of it as I was able to using my compact (no optical zoom!) and have cropped out this detail:
