Some of the things that are my peeves when photographing a scene like this are the power lines/pole and the green dumpster in front of the barn. Those elements alone would make me either keep on going to find another shot or do extensive photoshop work which I try to avoid. Maybe you could get a better shot from a different angle?
Yes, I do not care for the things you mentioned but I posted anyway just to show the cool structure. I have another but you will probably not like it as well. This was a little bit of a shooting challenge since I could only shoot from the roadway. Also, I am not the best at post processing yet to possibly get these objects corrected. I will be sure to check your images out to see how its done. Thanks for commenting on the obvious defects.

Do you have photoshop?
All versions of Photoshop (including Photoshop Elements) has a way to fix perspective distortions. You can do it through transforms or possibly under the "Filters" menu you might find a section for "Lens" distortion or correction. A keystone adjustment would fix this or you can do it with transforms.
Take a look at this video:
BTW, I'm no Photoshop expert and there's quite a learning curve to master it. But when you break it down into "how do I do just this one thing?", often it's not hard to do and often there will be a YouTube video offering a tutorial on how to do it.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I go by scenes all the time that I would love to photograph but because of things like powerlines and poles, newer cars and trucks, modern farm equipment and other items that may not fit the scene, I keep going. As I stated above, those are "my pet peeves". I love the round barns. There was on at a campground I used to visit in Indiana but I never got pics because of the location....campers in the back and an airport and highway in the front. For "me", those are a big part of what makes a photo more than just a snapshot. I very much prefer the second one shot over the first for the composition.
I'm no photoshop master either. I'm very much in the learning process and that is why if there are too many conflicting items in a photo possibility, I will keep driving rather than spend the time to remove them. As far as my photos, I don't have many here. I try to function with only 5 gigs of internet per month and a family of 4 so I don't upload to multiple sites. When I do put a photo on here, it is because I would like feedback so I can improve.
I think it may have been a defensive response to your initial reply. The reply started out by stating it to be a pet peeve, then describing the items in the image. This is saying that it probably irritates, annoys or may even make you angry. It may be true but I take this as being a little rude. I believe this could have been put in a better way. Maybe not so condescending. I have pet peeves myself and I think this may be one of them.
Actually if you get the change to come to Vernon County, WI and explore you will find many round barns and I think they even have them marked on a tour guide flyer. Many of the barns are owned by Amish and thus would be pretty darned nice to 'shoot'!
Just a thought if you get this way from Iowa.

No problem! If you get to Goose Island, you are not far from Vernon County. Lots of good photography choices there.
