Thanks so much for your kind comments, Don.

I am old enough, and to have been sexually attracted to in my adolescence, Carmen Miranda.

Also, I received the very same admonition regarding cleanliness of my ears.

This series started out with a red-neck guy (not that there is anything wrong with that) I work with bringing a potato to work that his neighbor had given him, knowing it was special, but at the same time not knowing what to do with it.

This particular potato was handed around at work lasciviously from its temporary home, a brown paper bag, with consequent snickers and knowing winks from many of my co-workers who, while technologists, are subject to a rather sophomoric interpretation of things and events, generally speaking, despite their ages and their wives opinions of them: I, I must say, consider myself very much one of them, and they consider me a leader in this regard.

Therefore, it is not particularly surprising, I suppose, that I wound up with the potato in question with the expectation that I would somehow find a way to translate their rather simple reactions to it in a much more meaningful way.

And that is how it started.

Then, after I discovered the remnants of it in my studio; growing; alive; I decided it had to be in charge. As Buffy St. Marie sung a song by Leonard Cohen, back in our day, "Magic is afoot, God rules!, Alive is afoot; alive is in command."

And so I decided to allow these actors to continue their story, not to just throw them in the trash, but to let their life force continue. And none of us knows where that may lead.

Nice analogy with the Buffy' tune* .. been a fan of hers forever, that song was one of
many highlights' of hers at a local festival last summer*

Thanks, Don. Well, all of this is now sitting on our kitchen table getting light and water every day. Like our lives, we don't know what the future will bring.

As a former plant manager I worked under, Art, a Princeton Tiger, though you never would have known it from his proclivity with the F-bomb; he often said, and the last words he said to me as he lay dying were, "We'll see what happens."

And I guess that's all we can do, isn't it? We'll see what happens: And especially as that principle applies to the future of the Potatoheads.

But whatever that is, I will do my best to present it here in these forums.

This is good, Don. You have given me an idea for a future series with the "Doctor and Nurse Kits", but I may have to consider whether I can turn a profit on them on adult sites rather than simply post them here . If so, my friend, I will cut you in. ;-P

As for the Mr. Potato Head sets nowadays, I am afraid, like chemistry sets, they have been ruined in their creative potential by the potential for litigation to which all consumer products for children are subject these days. When you purchase a Mr. Potato Head product these days, you can basically make one thing with it, and maybe add a mustache or change a facial expression. By analogy, like giving a kid a set of eight plastic letters rather than the entire alphabet.

But I suppose children are safer as a result.

As an adult, I had the option in this series of introducing differences in potato shapes into the equation to compensate for the lack of plastic gear provided. But maybe the folks who made toys for my generation don't want as many degrees of freedom in the toys they are presenting these days. Not sure why they would want to do that... hmmmmm.
