For almost 300 years the Old Knight had stood guard at his masters gate, now with no sword and a broken shield he had succumbed to the ravages of time, moss and lichens. "Oh for the days of chivalry and damsels in distress", we hear him cry.

Very nice find. I was thinking that with the story you told about him a shot from very low, looking up into his sad looking face, would have implied a way of honoring (literally looking up at) him.

Keith good idea, will try that the next time I go back over there - must admit i thought up the story after I got back and downloaded the pic. The date of about 300 years is correct though as the statues are believed to date from about 1630, so they are closer to 400 years old.

You folks in the UK have some neat old stuff. I always find the shots and the stories behind them interesting. Good shot.

Thank you, yes if you are into old stuff we have our share *LOL*, not just our own but back to Roman and Viking days - anything like this I will always try and add a little about the background to it wherever possible because like you I find the stories interesting. A picture may say a thousand words but an odd sentance or two doesn't go amiss.
