Camera for animal pictures using a motion sensor

    Hi all,
Hoping someone can advise me.. I'm looking to buy a gift for my kids. We have loads of animals in the fields around our home, most of them move around at night. Our kids are really interested but as they are mostly nocturnal they are hard to see. There are loads of tracks through the garden and fields so I figured it would be cool to try get some pictures. Does anyone know what I need to buy. I'd like a camera system which uses sensors to take the pictures during the night. Can I buy a decent set up for say 150? Perhaps some members might have tried this previously.

    Thanks!
    JJ

You can purchase outdoor cameras that do the job. The more money you pay the higher quality image, particularly night shots.

Thanks. I see loads of options, hard for me to differentiate between them. Big difference in cost. Guess I'll just have to take a chance.
    Thanks.

What you want is a trail camera. You can find them on any outdoor sports e commerce website.

Just wanted to give an update we got the below camera... great excitement for the kids and parents. So far we have several pictures and videos, mostly of foxes.. well worth buying. It's a great talking point and the kids just love it, even our eldest who isn't particularly into animals.. thanks for the information guys.

Nice to see a happy ending to a post. Be sure to post BigFoot when you capture him.
