A very simple concept that can have a profound impact on your photographs is filling the frame with your subject.

A lot of snapshots are taken from at a distance from the subject. Sometimes people feel like they need to include their entire subject (in the case of people, the entire body) in the frame. The result often leaves something to be desired. The frame is your canvas. Ideally, everything in the frame should add to the photo.

One of the easiest ways to exclude elements from a scene, especially the background, is to simply move closer to your subject. As you move closer, your subject fills the frame, the background is eliminated, and you begin to create a feeling of intimacy and reveal details that go unnoticed in the wider shot.

The next time you shoot, get closer! Fill your viewfinder with your subject. Get intimate. Reveal details and texture. Create a connection with the viewer. And it hardly matters what your subject is. People, architecture, nature, animals - all can benefit from this simple technique.

    The rules:

    1. Only photos taken during the challenge period should be posted.
    2. Limit of 2 pictures per post for this topic.
    3. Discussion of technique and/or inspiration is encouraged!
    4. Remember - this is NOT a contest - no voting, no prizes - other than better photos!

Have fun - take pictures - fill the frame!

    Nice work!

Jump in, George! Any subject is fair game.

Hi. Being new, I have a couple of questions; can we post 2 pictures, and how long does this challenge run?

    Thanks

I'm gonna just go ahead and take a chance and add this second image. I got up at 3:30 am yesterday, Saturday morning, couldn't sleep, and when I walked out into the kitchen to make a pot of coffee, I saw this light streaming into the patio window. It was the moon. So I decided since I was up, I'd try to take a picture of it. I've tried before, but this is the best one I have managed. The most fullest I could fill my frame with using the lenses available.

I also put an inscription of Picasso's line drawing "The Mouse" on the left edge of it. So that's why I called it "Mouse in the Moon".

If only one image is allowed, just delete this one and I'll go with the leaf. Again, I'm new on this forum and pardon me if I don't know the rules yet.
