If there's a good general rule to follow in photography, it is to keep it simple. An image that includes only the esential elements of a scene will invariably have more impact than a complex picture. Identify the things that appeal most strongly to you within the subject, and then consider which of the surrounding details you need to include and which will only detract from the main interest. Doing this will usually involve making changes to both your viewpoint (remember... get high, get low ), and the way in which you fram the image.

A frozen pond in winter was littered with ducks and geese, and I came away with a memory card full of images. The winner?

    "Cold Duck"

So for the next couple of weeks, bear this "simple" concept in mind as you're out shooting.

    The rules again:

    1. Only photos taken during the challenge period should be posted.
    2. Limit of 2 pictures per post for this topic.
    3. Discussion of technique and/or inspiration is encouraged!
    4. Remember - this is NOT a contest - no voting, no prizes - other than better photos!

Have fun - take pictures - KEEP IT SIMPLE!

Beautiful, Dane! George, that's really pretty cool..........white milk, white snow! Can't get more simple than that I'd say.

I love that milk shot. Frozen duck, burrr. I think I'll look to see if there's something simply inside to shoot, maybe some cyclamen.

Hey, just wanted to say it great to have the challenge start druring the week, then I go out for the weekend on Friday I already know what the challenge is Thanks Dane.

    Welcome to the forum, artcarlson!

Charles... you're welcome. I'll do my best, but no long-term promises.

As cold as it's gotten recently, there are still roses in my yard in December.
