    Hi All,

As spring begins to make her way to the northern hemisphere, I'm seeing more and more spring flower/plant pictures appear in posts on the forum. That's great. Even I couldn't resist the temptation and posted one myself.

This challenge is to show everyone those things that mean spring is here -- to you. Those personal sights and sounds that every year jog your memory and create that sensation of spring renewal and new beginnings.

Sound simple enough? Well there is one catch. NO pictures of flowers, plant life, trees budding, etc. are allowed. What are the OTHER images that say, "Spring is here to you."

Having been heavily involved in coaching and training for girl's softball for almost two decades, I find that the beginning of this spring sport means winter is over and the memories of springtime on the softball field flood my mind.

Seeing the first batter of the season standing at the plate at 8 a.m. on a brisk Saturday morning:

And the sound of the first pitch hitting the catcher's glove spell spring to me.

    [attachmentid=24475]

What about you? What photographic sights say, "Goodbye to snow and hello to the joys of spring?"

    Looking forward to your pictures.

OK well there is one thing for me that means Spring is here and there is no way this can happen until Spring is really here, hopefully the middle of next week will be the time when this will occur and I will be able to post an image here - until then you are in suspense, or not

These guys are allowed back on inland waters.

Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words "I have a cunning plan" marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

This is one of the first signs here.

Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.

Most excellent challenge! Like George, I've got an idea but the weather will probably not cooperate to get the shot for several days.

    Nice shots!

Tyke, we have the same gathering of wind surfers in the Columbia Gorge in Washington each year. Excellent catch. Fine sports images.

masiracha, really like your imaginative shot of the sunbather in the snow. Looks like the White Balance is off somewhat. Your snow has a green/cyan tint to it. You should be able to easily correct this by adjusting the levels in your image editing program. The bird is great and nest building is definitely a sign of spring. You might consider lightening it just a little bit to show more detail in the bird. Great catches.

Vital Spark, you're certainly right. Spring seems filled with sportsmen, boat, RV and home shows.

George and Steve, we're on the edge of our computer seats waiting to see your springtime catches.

Well done everyone. Keep on shooting.

As always with me, it's about the fish and nothing signals spring like the start of the fishing season. Isn't he adorable! LOL

Hub, the ball and mitt thing does it for me as well. I'll look for an opportunity to add some of those. In the mean time, while not necessarily personal to me, I saw this today while sitting at a stoplight and thought of this challenge...
