My first step is to tell spammers to take a hike.

The first step to manage your photo library is to make image management. There are ready made tools are also available on the internet that will automatically mange your photos.

I found it to be a big decision for me. As backup for pictures are of great importance, but space is also an issue. I am a wedding photographer that ranges all the way from san francisco to lake tahoe. Needless to say I do a lot of weddings. I have 1tb of space on my computer and 2tb on my current hard drive. I have decided to keep all the photos in RAW and JPEG. Since I dont have an everyday use for the RAW files I put those on my hard drive once Im done editing. I then save the best wedding pictures as a JPG and put it in a folder with named "Bride's Name & Groom's Name" This way when they want prints or albums done I have the full size images readily available. And my RAW Images are safely backed up. I have talked to photographers that keep a DVD with the RAW files on top of a backup hard drive for added security. Im comfortable with my edits, so I am happy with only having the JPEGs. For older Weddings I have an additional Hard Drives that I never touch.

    Hope that helps,

If your images aren't in three different physical locations, they don't really exist.

And by different locations, I mean different addresses... not three drives sitting on your desk.

If you want to keep the old shrub framework in directories, photo library application successfully offered by Lightroom or ACDSee Pro is not only appropriate but can be designed to personal choices.

A lot of things to manage a photo library is splitting your most effective pictures from the outtakes. Rankings & color coding are well-known techniques for determining your best shots fast.

A good photo shop software and a photo manager software like ACD see ,is quite enough to manage the photo library. In fact it is more than management because these software provide the complete package.
