I kinda feel like the focus should be switched, this kinda of feels like the girl just happened to get in the way of the shot. Either that, or crop in a little closer to the girl to make it clear that she was meant to be the subject of the picture. Panning along with the girl as she biked passed could have resulted in an interesting picture too.

    Just some suggestions!

@Fred Berg----It looks more of the building than the girl in bicycle.

Thanks for the comments and ideas! TBH, I don't know how to blur the background and keep the subject sharp - I've seen it very often but have never tried it. Any advice or tips would be most welcome.

    I think it's a great shot

    Unusual

Good photography is about breaking the rules

However, if you want the reverse effect, ie : keep the moving object sharp (ie, unblurred),

then set a higher shutter-speed, eg, 250th/second, or maybe higher, and use a wide aperture,

(to throw the background out of focus), then PAN the camera as the object moves by, then hit the shutter at what you gauge

to to be just the right moment.

It won't always work, but it's great that we don't waste any film when we use digital cameras

Keep experimenting, Fred, your pix are good
