I was walking throuhg this open-air village museum in Japan, looking at the different houses and the crafts they presented when I saw this girl and her family. I can't say if she was strikingly beautiful, it was rather her natural expression and the emotions in her face that made me ask to take a photograph of her. Now, here are two version of the picture - the first one is simply black and white, and the second one - I edited it in lightroom using only the Black&White Blue Filter. I've heard very different oppinions about it and I would really love to see which one you think is better.

Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.

I like both for different reasons but if I were to frame one it'd be the one on the right

To be honest, I would frame this one too. But my friends tell me that there's something cruel in the the girl's expression (since then I keep thinking of Lord of the Flies when I see it
) and that's why some of them don't like it. I personally think that this is the special thing about the photo - it's not so much the usual shot of an innocent, smiling child, rather a picture that mirrors complicated emotions and experiences. Thank you for the reply! :P

the one on the right HANDS DOWN!! it has such a fun artistic edge to this portrait. i LOVE it. obsessed really. amazing work.

The right one has it, it has at the moment a magnum feel to it, very raw and street (if you know what I mean) well worthy of a frame

I really like both versions of this one.
I like the high contrast of the one of the left (although I'd perhaps burn in her right cheek slightly to give a little bit of texture/shadow back, make it look a little less blown out).
The extra color/shading on her face in the right one really brings out her eyes, and the reflections in them, as well as defining her lips better, giving her a more stern attitude in my opinion.
Great pictures!
