    still coming up short on the back light problem with the dark hair and dark background. if somebody can recommend a good one-please do.

    Try putting a light behind him pointing up towards the back of his head. This will give him some seperation from the backround. Also, make sure he is at least 3 feet away from the backdrop....maybe try shooting at a low 5 stop to blur the backdrop out a bit.

    I like both Heather. The lighting doesn't look bad.

    I can see the detail in his eyes in #1 which i like and there is a distinction w/ the background in that one.

    How are these in color?

    Erin gives good advice about the light and settings.
