i had tried to get some pics of the Cape Blanco light on Monday, when i went to Port Orford, but the cape was socked in, visibility was 50 yards tops, and the grounds were closed anyway. so i went back today, and got these...

    here's a bit about the light... http://www.portorfordoregon.com/blanco.html

and here are some photos... all with the Canon 30D and Tamron SP17-35 lens. i wouldn't be surprised if one of these winds up on my wall somewhere...

    Awwwww...just for lil ol me??

These are great. I particulary like this lighthouse. I tried to decide why I liked it so much when I saw it and I think it's because of it's width. I don't think any that I've captured on the Jersey shore are this wide. So I guess I like chunky lighthouses! LOL

This lighthouse is nicely maintained. You got some great blue skies!
I like the view in #1 but I think that perspective in #3 is great with the tall grasses perfectly blowing in the wind just for you and your camera to get a great shot. I can see that one being a "frame-er"!!

Who knows why lighthouses are so lovable --- but for me they just are!

Thanks for the link too, I like to read the history. First woman lightkeep in Oregon - neat!

All they said Rocky. But I like #1 as well - makes a great cinemascopic view!

Have you noticed a small dust (round) in #1. Time to clean the lens or maybe sensor. Just check it.
    cheers

Jen, you are not alone! My living room is full of lighthouse replicas, photos, postcards, and painted signs. I love them!

Squirl, I love your photos!! Those would definitely be worthy of hanging on my wall........now if I just had a blank spot to put them. LOL
