Taken with a Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm Tessar (MF) on a Canon 300D at F/3.5 400 ISO

The lens gives some interesting effects in the blur out (bokeh? is that the right term?) which is very soft.

At about 0.8 of a metre away and F/4.0, it gains a real crispness when taking a whole plate:

Both the front and back of the plate are without distortion, which works out okay taking from a lower angle, but for a 3/4 shot, this lens is very nice. It can be fiddly to use, being manual focus, but I have a lot of time when it comes to food - it's not like it's going to move out of shot

Nice photos, they make your mouth water for sure. That's a very nice lens you've used for these shots.

Looking awesome! The beef stuff makes feel hunger and temptation. I really like the blur effect on it. Great photography, spot on and if we could have a top angle would be great.
