I'm looking at upgrading to a Nikon SB900 Speedlight. However, I'm reading that users have had issues with "Thermal-Shutdown".
I do not shoot weddings so rapid fires are not mandatory, but I do want a flash that is dependable for the price.
I want to add the SB900 to my current Speedlight Wireless System. I have had great success with my SB800's, so is the SB900 worth it?

    Has anyone used the SB900?

    Your thoughts?

Stick with the SB-800! I've heard from a couple people now, that their SB-900 would heat up quite quickly, and stop working. The one woman had only had hers for a short time too.

you can turn off SB900 "Thermal-Shutdown" feature from the unit (as stated in the manual). Once it's done, it should be working like SB800.

If thermal shutdown is a concern, than go with the 910. I really doubt you'll eperiance the overheating issue with the 900 if you dont use the flash repeatedly.

I believe they fixed all those issues with the sb910. They haven't fixed the price issue so I won't be upgrading.
