I am about to buy some studio lights from either elinchrom or bowens. One deciding factor is the ability to use the lights away from AC power (on location). The battery pack for the bowens lights is $500 us and the battery for the Elinchrom is about $1200.
I was wondering if anyone has used a car battery or similar and an inverter to power flash heads from either of these manufacturers?
I understand that the recharge time is probably not going to be very quick but that doesn't matter too much for my intended work.
Has anyone used anything else to pwer flash heads like the vagabond packs or other after market brands.
Any information would be gratefully received. Thanks. Lee

Have you tried out the Tronix XT3?
