I have a Manfrotto tripod that I adore...I'll have to look up the model for you.

Much will depend on your budget, what type of shots you will be using it for and how often you will be using it.
It is also very important to buy a tripod that will comfortably carry your heaviest gear.

I have the Manfrotto 190CLB tripod with Manfrotto 804RC2 Counterbalanced 3 Way Head.

It's a very nice tripod that tends to stay stable in most conditions.

I've got the Giotto MT9251 legs and a Manfrotto 488RC4 ball head. Have been very satisfied. The tripod is very sturdy, tall enough for me (I'm 6'3") and the center column will reverse for extreme low to the ground shots. The head is overkill for my current kit, but I'm hoping to have a "big long lens" someday...

The other end of the scale I use a Slik Pro 400DX which cost me £60 ($120) and it comes with Pan & Tilt head.
Have found it to be very sturdy for all my needs (must admit to not using it too much!)
It's capable of carrying my 30D with 70-200L comfortably.
My thoughts when I purchased it were I did'nt actually take a lot of shots where tripod was necessary and I didn't want to spend £150-£200 on something I would not use that often, mainly got it for my increasing interest in Macro.
