low res images on wood

This is a discussion on low res images on wood within the Experimental Photography forums, part of the PHOTO GALLERIES category; this is what kept me busy for a while. i shot the model and superimposed the violincello in the bg and enlarged it to 30X40 ...

    this is what kept me busy for a while. i shot the model and superimposed the violincello in the bg and enlarged it to 30X40 inches and applied a straightline screen at 3.5 lines per inch making the lightest part about 3/8 of an inch wide and had it printed and stripped it one by one and glued it to the edges of about 120 strips of 3/8 x 2 x 30 wood and carved out all the black areas. after carving, i glued all the strips consecutively on a piece of 30x40 marine plywood and the photo on the right is the result. the space beyween them creates shadows that gives an illusion of the image.

    Bravo!

    I'm not totally sure I understand ALL of the steps taken to create the second image, but I certainly like the results. I also admire your creativity and dedication to what must have been a very time consuming project. Thanks for sharing.

    hi, suesue, thank you for your comments. yes it is very time consuming, you must have a lot of patience. it takes about a month to finish one. product of 'old age' and staying at home.
