Can you imagine going 30 hours without food?
Never knowing when your going to be able to eat again.
Or even if you're going to eat.
This is what is happening to kids all around the world.
There are hundreds that are dying due to starvation and diseases like AIDS.
29,000 children will die today due to hunger.
You would think that starvation and AIDS has nothing to do with eachother, right?
    Wrong.
Hunger and AIDS are linked, but how?
In order for the kids and people to get the treatment for AIDS they need a well balanced diet.
But, if they go 30+ hours without food, the treatment will not work.
Think of it this way, you have a cold or the flu.
You go to the doctor and they give you the wrong medicine.
If you continue to take the medicine it could cause you to get worse.

Our church youth group is helping to raise money for kids across the world.
We went 30 hours without food to raise this money to send to World Vision.
Their volunteers will then go and get rice for these kids.
It was hard, but we got through it.
We got popsickles and juice and that's it.
    Nothing more.
We started at noon on Friday and we knew that we wouldn't get to eat until 6:00 p.m. the next day.
    We knew it was comming.
We knew at 6:00, we would have a big meal, with lemonade, noodles, cupcakes and bread.
We knew it would be over.
We knew we could continue with our lives.
But kids all around the world, never know when that time will be.
They never know if they will get to eat within the next 30 hours.
They will never know if tomarrow will be their next meal.
They will never know if tomarrow even exists.

There are kids as young as two and three taking care of new borns because they have lost their parents due to AIDS.
Imagine being that age, and knowing that you have to be the one to take care of a new born, farming, working to get food, and knowing it's your responsibility.

We went bowling to keep our minds off of it.
We played games to keep our minds off of it.
Other children have to deal with the pain... everyday.

I want to thank anyone who has read this entire thing.
Taking 3 minutes out of your busy schedule to read this.
Even if you skimmed through it, it's more than what someone who didn't even bother to open it did.

this is the entire youth group that participated.

these are the plates after we ate...

I know that these pictures aren't the best I've taken, but what counts is that you read the beginning and know that what we are trying to get everyone to do is help around the world.

    Bri,

Well done. What a great thing you've done! Yes, I read the whole thing

The best shot was the group one. Good set up on that one.

The bowling looked fun! And I laughed at your friend on the sink in her bowling shoes!

My desire in photography is to capture the essence of life, to make others catch their breath at the purity of the moment captured, I'm still working on that.
