My mind's eye told me this would be a good thing for this picture and I thought it would look great. So I spent some time on it and this is the result. I think it looks terrible but I'm not sure why and somehow I still think it should look good. Does anyone like it or can you give me insight about what's wrong with it?

It's hard to impress when nothing is in focus. This needs some sharpness somewhere.

God I hate to critique! ~ (but you & the rest of the old timers round here already know that)......

    #1 It's too centered.....
#2 There are too many halos around the main subject (the flower) & that in itself destroy the image.....
#3 The flower is too bright on the bottom compared to the top.....
#4 The bokeh is good, but could be better..... again too bright in areas.....
& #5 As Mike has already said...your main subject is out of focus....

Thank you, Mike and Mountainrider! Sometimes I get to a point where I can't see what I'm looking at and I have to have other eyes on it. Your replies ring with accuracy. What a relief!- I had gotten to the point where I felt like I should like it because it had to be good because my mind's eye said it had to be good and I did the right things to get it to look the way it should look; and yet I still felt it looked awful

Your replies are like a breath of fresh air.

It looks like it was taken with a lensbaby. Was it?

If the original photo was crisp and in focus, this could be quite nice .. you could even add a very slight radiant color from behind the flower with layers.

The halo killed it for me.
