    Eric -

    Is the different coloring the distinction between male and female snowy owls in these pictures? At first glance, my thought they were just different color phases of the birds? Just asking for my own knowledge in the future.

    Thanks

    Good question - I thought they were different birds. Must check with the owner. Thanks again. Boxplayer ps Could there be such a difference between male and female?

    I am not Eric but;

    The chicks are spotted and as the owls grow older they get whiter, especially the males, only the male Snowy Owl is completely white. The females will have dusky spotting, spots on their wings and never become totally white
