Your picture is beautiful. I had a family of Sandhill Cranes come visit last Thanksgiving, they wouldn't leave till I gave them some bread, they are so big and beautiful too. If I can find the pictures and I'm brave enough I'll post them. They were just walking through our neighborhood looking for a sucker (me) to feed them. By the way I live in Florida so I guess they were here for the winter. All though lately I've been seeing and hearing them since August so maybe they are here all year round, who knows.
Beautiful bird - never seen one like that before - thanks for sharing
Nice picture of a great bird. I'm only used to seeing gray plumage. There are several subspecies of Sandhill Cranes. In Florida some migrate and some are permanent residents.
