Finally had a decent spell of weather and managed to get out with camera.
Both of these were taken at local lake while walking Charli (my dog)

    Mrs Mallard

This little Robin came and landed on the five bar gate about 7 or 8 feet away.

Nice shots. I wondered how the second would look with a little cropping-so gave it a shot-hope you don't mind.

Peter ain't it nice to get a little sun and get out - great catch on the Robin - you did well to get it that close - I nearly got one yesterday but at about 20 feet but the thing would not stop still long enough to get a shot off

Good stuff, Peter - love the light on the mallard's face and the reflection of the beak. Great catch on the robin!

Thanks for comments WaitinToRein & locus, appreciated.
Tried several crops with this one myself banannabiker and couldn't find one I really liked so stuck with the original, guess being on the gate proved too tricky!

Has been great for last 3-4 days here George, hard frosts in morning, lovely day and then cold at night.

Thanks dane, the light was the thing that attracted me to the mallard.
